​How do other communities protect their water? 

Many communities have developed organizations, round tables or boards to assist in water resource management.
The following are links to some relevant to our situation: 
​The Okanagan Basin Water Board (OBWB) was instituted in 1970 as a collaboration of the three Okanagan regional districts to provide leadership on water issues spanning the valley.

​Located near Qualicum Beach, Hamilton Marsh and the 360 ha parcel that surrounds it is private land  and one of the very few marsh / wetlands left in this area. Owned by Island Timberlands a large forest company, the future of the marsh could be in question.
