About the Authors

The Our Oceanside Water has been created to provide a realistic and objective look at issues that affect almost every aspect of life on Central Vancouver Island.  A sustainable supply of pure, uncontaminated water is fundamental to public health and wellbeing, the environment, ecosystem, economy, tourism and more.

The Arrowsmith - Oceanside area has the potential, of being one of the best places in the world for providing water for the needs of the region.  The area has an average precipitation of well over 100 centimeters, hundreds of square kilometers of undeveloped land reaching up to more than 1800 meters in the mountains.  This area should be a model for completely sustainable and efficient water supply management.

Unfortunately the opposite is true and water quality and volume are declining, after only 120 years of land, water and resource development, we are to the point where even basic water needs cannot be met in several parts of the area.
